Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing The Will of God!

Today I started a new Bible study, and it was awesome! It is called Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing The Will of God. Betsy (My brothers wife) suggested it to me over the summer, and I purchased it, but I never started it. After almost four months I have started it and I am extremely excited. I am going to do one lesson a day, six days of the week (Mon - Sat). Sundays I am detecting my focus on what I learn in church.
Today I read through the Introduction and did all of Day One. The Introduction was pretty start forward, it introduced me to the author and gave me an overview of what I would be learning in this Bible study. To summarize Day One, it discussed how we need to follow Jesus one day at a time, and not expect him to map out or whole life for us. By doing this we will be able to better understand Gods will for our life. The study had a great example from the Bible of someone who listened to God, even when he didn't have all of the details. The story is in Genesis, Chapter 12.

The Lord had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your fathers household and go to the land I will show you".

"I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."

So Abram left, as the lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy- five ears old when he set out from Haran. He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions the had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there (Gen. 12:1-5).

Abram followed God one day at a time. God simply said, "Leave" and "Go to the land I will show you." He wasn't very specific, and definitely didn't explain it all to Abram.

Note: Abram: God later changed his name to Abraham

All in all it has been a great bible study so far and will update everyone on the new things I learn!!!!!!!!
